I need to have my mind occupied otherwise I just get bored and don't stick with it. They are nutritionally worthless, and won't keep you from getting hungry, BUT, they're only calories and may satisfy a craving. But some items that you buy from the grocery store, like vegetables and fish, may involve more preparation. You should not do this if you have any health problems, if you haven't seen your doctor, or if you are looking at this as a long term solution. The idea is to be moving. For instance, you may need to remove some extra foods you had planned on eating.

They found no difference in appetite between groups (8). Overall, I looked at 4 more studies. Two of them showed weight loss of a few pounds over a period of 8 weeks (9, 10), but the other two showed no effect (11, 12).
